Brother and sister Jake and Sami Segal both win the statewide Road Safety Art Contest.

For two siblings at Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School, this common hobby helped them win a statewide contest. Kindergartner Samantha “Sami” Segal and fifth-grader Jake Segal have both won the Road Traffic Safety Art Contest. Sami won second place in the K-1st grade category, and Jake won third place in the 5th-6th grade category after being entered into the contest by their art teacher, Crystal Dunn. Upper Dublin High School student Nate Rifkin qualifies for national debate competition.
Nate Rifkin started debating during his freshman year of Upper Dublin High School. “I got involved with debate through a speech and debate class. I took the class on something of a whim, figuring that since I was interested in current events and politics, I would like the class,” Rifkin said. Rifkin did like the class. He liked it so much he took the second debate class offered. “Unfortunately, all Upper Dublin offered debate wise was those two classes and I wasn’t ready to give up debate just yet,” Rifkin said. The UD team qualified a second person to national finals. Kaitlyn Brady shown in above photo qualified to nationals in Extemporaneous speaking. Kaitlyn is a junior at Upper Dublin in her second year of competition.
