The boys and girls Upper Dublin swim teams finish off the season at the PIAA State Championships at Bucknell University by setting several records.

The Upper Dublin girls swim team finished tied with Warwick High School for 16th place out of 57 scoring teams. Of the eight different events, the team was able to final in seven events: The Boy's Swim Team had a historic weekend at the PIAA State Championship meet. The team went into the weekend having never won an event at states at the AAA level, and came out with two relay wins and two individual wins to finish with a third place overall team finish. In individual events: The team then ended the meet with the quartet of Michael Jensen, Ian Flynn, Eric Jensen, and Bob Bantley combining to win the 400 Freestyle Relay in a new state record time; Bob Bantley was named Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet for his 4 gold medal performance…

The Upper Dublin boys swimming team won the District I Championship this weekend by defeating its rival North Penn High School by more than 130 points. This is the second consecutive year in which the school came in first place. Upper Dublin won the medley and 400 freestyle relays. Individual event winners include: The 400 Free Relay also set a new district meet record with a time of 3:03, which broke the old record by over three seconds. Bob Bantley was also awarded the Swimmer of the Meet Award for AAA Boys. The team will represent Upper Dublin at the state championships Bucknell.

The Upper Dublin High School girls swimming team placed second in the District I championships last weekend. The team, comprising five swimmers and two divers, defated 35 other District I swimming teams, placing behind only North Penn, which has a much larger team. The girls also qualified six althletes for next week’s State Championships at Bucknell University. Divers Corey Johnson and Kelly Toner led the group. The swimmers are Julia Rodriguez in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly; Sam Wheatley in the 200 IM; Casey O’Neill in the 200 freestyle and the relay team of Emily Houser, Sam Wheatley, Casey O’Neill and Julia Rodriguez in the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relay.
