The Franklin & Marshall College poll ranks what voters feel is important for the state.
The No. 1 issue that Pennsylvania voters care about is improving the economy, at least according to one poll. The Frankin and Marshall College poll of Pennsylvania voters for May 2013 found that, of 11 possible issues, the one voters said to be most important to them was improving the state’s economy. The poll listed a number of issues and asked voters to rank its importance on a scale of 1 to 10. The top two issues, “improving the state’s economy” and “help create new jobs,” both had a mean score of 8.9 among voters polled. The poll, which was conducted between April 30 and May 5, gathered responses from 526 registered voters, including 265 Democrats, 196 Republicans and 65 Independents. The Hatfield Township Police Department is requesting information concerning the whereabouts of Thomas Troy Young, according to a release on Thursday afternoon. "There is an active criminal arrest warrant charging Young with attempted murder and related offenses," said the Hatfield Police release. "He is believed to be operating a black 2009 Honda Accord which bears Pennsylvania registration GKS8099. The vehicle is owned by the victim and was taken immediately after the assault. Hatfield Township detectives are currently pursuing leads in an attempt to locate him." Young's alleged victim, a family member, is still recovering. "Should Congress fail to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which pays for programs that help victims of domestic violence, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., said it would encourage 'a terrible, horrific betrayal of who we are as a people' and make it more difficult to help victims," said the article. The National Weather Service says those in Montgomery County, Pa. should expect some snow in the coming day with Winter Storm Nemo.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J. has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect from 3 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Saturday. The storm in the Montgomery County area of Pennsylvania is expected to bring between four and eight inches of snow. "Heavy snow" and a "possible trace of ice" is expected in the storm. We may even see a rare winter thunderstorm, as two weather fronts collide to form what the Weather Service has called "Winter Storm Nemo." "Any snow Friday morning will change rain during the daylight hours then back to heavy snow late in the day Friday or Friday evening," said the NWS. Lititz, less than an hour and half from Norristown, is in the running for Budget Travel Magazine's title of America's Coolest Small Town.
Budget Travel Magazine has narrowed the search for America's Coolest Small Town, and, after 924 nominations, the 15 finalists include a Pennsylvania town that is a perfect day trip from Montgomery County. Lititz, less than an hour and a half from Norristown, offers visitors costumed tour guides of the Lititz Historical Foundation, as well as "a museum that includes Native American artifacts, a replica of a Moravian home, and a heritage garden," according to Budget Travel. A judge ruled today that Pennsylvania's tough new Voter ID Law should be put on hold until after the Nov. 6 general election, according to an Associated Press report. The ruling can be appealed to the state Supreme Court, which said it would expedite any further action in the case since Election Day is just five weeks away. Do you agree with the ruling?
