Route 202 Parkway Set to Open Dec. 3

The $200 million Parkway will have a 40mph limit and feature 12-foot-wide shared-use bike and pedestrian pathways

After many years of construction, and numerous traffic restrictions for new guardrails, traffic signalization, sound walls and the like, the $200 million U.S. Route 202 Parkway will open to traffic Monday, Dec. 3. The 8.4-mile Parkway, according to PennDOT, is a direct route from Montgomeryville to Doylestown, beginning at Route 63 near Stump Road and ending at Route 611. “We look forward to opening Pennsylvania’s newest roadway as the Route 202 Parkway will provide additional transportation capacity and enhance travel along this congested corridor in Montgomery and Bucks counties,” PennDOT District Executive Lester C. Here Comes Santa Claus

Kris Kringle arrived early to the North Penn area Friday night with his annual tenure at Montgomery Mall

Montgomery Mall's reindeer roof parking is filled up for the next 51 days. Santa Claus has come to town. Kris Kringle brought his cherry nose and twinkling eyes to the North Penn area Friday night, with an arrival and traditional grand entrance to the mall via Fire Department of Montgomery Township. Stay away! Went with our kids to see Santa for Christmas & was greeted by a sign telling us not to use our phone or camera unless we purchase a miniumum package & then was reminded of this by the employee when I told my kids to go say hi to Santa anyway. Of all the ways to make a buck at Christmastime - regulating who can afford to see & get a picture with Santa!   more ›

Keystone Fellowship Ready to Serve 20,000 Meals

The religious institution in Montgomery Township is seeking volunteers to help deliver food and identify those in need

Those still living without electricity in the wake of Hurricane Sandy can get some free hot meals courtesy of Keystone Fellowship of Montgomery Township and Skippack Township. The religious institution at 427 Stump Road is ready to serve 20,000 hot meals to people in the Greater Philadelphia area as part of its Hurricane Sandy Relief. Keystone has been given more than 16,000 pounds of pre-cooked chicken and a large commercial cooker to aid those in need and those without power. It is also acquiring bread and water to giveaway as well. Keystone Fellowship's Montgomeryville location will be the regional distribution center in the relief effort today, Thursday and Friday from Noon to 6 p.m. The effort is in need of volunteers to drive, …

County Library Gets $9K from Montgomery Township

Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library has $9,000 more to its coffers, thanks to a contribution Monday night from Montgomery Township. Executive director Kathleen Arnold-Yerger was there to accept the check and she filled in supervisors and the public in attendance on e-books and her dream for the future of the Bookmobile. Arnold-Yerger said the library now has more than 11,000 titles for e-readers like Kindles and Nooks. "I think since last year we tripled the circulation with e-books. We can't keep up with the requests for e-books," she said. "You don't have to purchase them; you borrow your e-books from the library. You can choose to have it for seven, 14 or 21 days. Wiretaps Lead To Bust Of Local Meth Operation

A total of 32 suspects were arrested in connection with a methamphetamine distribution network which spanned from northern Montgomery County to Philadelphia.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman has announced the arrest of 32 suspects in connection with a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operation, which spanned from northern Montgomery County to Philadelphia and included 12 residents of Lansdale Borough and Hatfield, Towamencin, Montgomery and Upper Gwynedd townships. Methamphetamine was recovered from a motorcycle repair shop in Lansdale, according to the report, just one of many locations where police executed a search warrant. One of those arrested in charged with drug violations include Ronald Krauss, owner of Bad Ronald's Custom Tattooing in Lansdale. The investigation began in 2011, when detectives from the district attorney's Narcotics Enforcement Team were tipped off …
