NORRISTOWN, PA -- Nicole Cogdell was working as a manager at Wet Seal in 2009, when she overheard the company's executive vice president tell the district manager that she "wasn't the right fit for the store" and that they needed someone "with blonde hair and blue eyes." Days later, Cogdell, a black woman, was fired from her job. Cogdell wasn't alone, however, as her assistant manager, Myriam Saint-Hilaire, and Kai Hawkins, who worked at The Gallery mall in Philadelphia, were also let go, according to Philly.com. Locations near the PA Turnpike will offer spots to 'plug in.'
This summer, drivers along the Pennsylvania Turnpike will find at least four rest stops to be "electrifying." The Turnpike Commission announced recently that four new charging stations will be installed this summer for electric cars. According to the Lancaster New Era, a new charging station is scheduled to be added along the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the King of Prussia rest stop gas station. The additions are a part of a $2.5 million project by the commission. Renee Vid Colborn, spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, told the Era that a "fill-up" will cost "anywhere between $2 and $5, depending on the charging station we put in and the utilities." Police say a Montgomery County man killed 10-month-old baby, grandmother.
Even with his own confession caught on tape, one Montgomery County man entered a not guilty plea in court on Friday in the case of the murdered Saanvi Venna, 10-months, and her grandmother back in October of 2012. As Patch reported in 2012, Saanvi's body was found bound in a suitcase at the Marquis apartment complex in Upper Merion Township in October 2012. Police arressted Raghunandan Yandamuri, 26, after discovering a ransom note and evidence that the man was going to attempt to kidnap the girl for money. The botched kidnapping resulted in the death of two, both Saanvi and her grandmother, police said. Yandamuri confessed to police that he was the murderer. Montgomery County District Court has released the footage of Raghunandan Yandamuri alleged confession to the murders of 10-month-old Saanvi Venna and her 61-year-old grandmother Satyavathi Venna in October. According to NBC10, Yandamuri claimed both murders were accidental. In the video, he claims that he slit the grandmother's throat accidentally and stuffed a handkerchief in Saanvi's mouth and Wrapped a towel around her head to stop her from crying. Authorities have said the murders were part of a botched ransom scheme in which Yandamuri planned to demand $50,000 from Saanvi's parents for her safe return. Local authorities on Tuesday were working with the FBI to identify any suspects of motives in Monday's suspected abduction of 10-month-old Saanvi Venna from her home in a King of Prussia apartment tower on Monday. Authorities said Saanvi's 61-year-old grandmother, Satyavathi Venna, was found murdered in the home when Upper Merion Township Police arrived at the scene early Monday afternoon. Satyavathi Venna, who was visiting from India, had been staying with her son, Venkata Konda Siva Venna (Saanvi's father) and her daughter-in-law, Chenchu Latha Punuru, Saanvi's mother. Multiple news outlets are confirming that Upper Merion and Pennsylvania State Police are still searching for 10-month-old Saavni Venna after she was abducted from the Marquis Apartments in the 200 block of W. Dekalb Pike in King of Prussia sometime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Oct. 22. According to NBC10, police have confirmed that the murder victim found at the scene was Saavni's 61-year-old grandmother, Satyavathi Venna, who was baby-sitting at the time.
