I live in Upper Dublin and my power still hasn't been restored. PECO's ETA is now 11/4/12. His visit didn't help my power get restored any quicker.   more ›

Upper Dublin Area Volunteers Listed in Boy Scouts' 'Perversion Files'

The Boy Scouts of America reportedly kept extensive secret lists of men banned from volunteering with the scouts.

Media outlets all over the country have been reporting on the Boy Scouts of America's (BSA) so called "Perversion Files" – lists of men banned from volunteering with the organization due to allegations of inappropriate behavior which, in most cases involved molesting boys. The files, which cover the years from 1965 to 1985, list thousands of men, many of whom were never charged with any crime because the BSA kept the records private and never reported the incidents. The files were released after a lawsuit in Oregon (Lewis vs. Boy Scouts of America, Case No. 0710-11294) resulted in a court order demanding the records be made public. Of the thousands listed, two men were from the Upper Dublin area, both were accused by Scouts but never …

The years being talked about are 27-47 years ago. Not to condone the behavior, what was the mood of the country then and was BSA doing something "wrong" , or different than society in general? They did have a list apparently and barred people from working with children. I have been involved with scouting since 1992 and there was always a rule that at least 2 adults had to be present with any …   more ›

Pharmacies Proposed For Dresher

One of the two proposed sites backs up to the existing Dreshertown Plaza Shopping Center.

Dresher residents could soon be serviced by two new pharmacies if a pair of property developers' plans come to fruition. The parcel backs up to the existing Dreshertown Plaza complex. Brandolini is willing to forego 24-hour operation for the proposed pharmacy in response to community concerns, the company's attorney told the Upper Dublin Planning Commission last month.  A few hundred feet down the road, BET Investments, owner of a 9.54 acre site between Susquehanna Road and N. Limekiln Pike, wants to build a complex that would include a …

It seems to me, that despite the convenience for use in Dresher, this move, considering the economices of the Post Office, was long overdue. It will be a little more inconvenient or all of us, I liked running in and out, but was inevitable, sadly all things change, not always for the good.   more ›
