State Sen. John Rafferty Becomes MCCC Trustee

The former Methacton School Board member takes his seat as one of Montgomery County Community College’s 15 board trustees.

According to the Intelligencer, State Sen. John Rafferty, Jr. (R-44) has become a trustee of Montgomery County Community College (MCCC). Rafferty, a former Methacton School Board member, as well as a former member of Montgomery County’s board of assessment appeals, was appointed by the county commissioners last week. “John Rafferty is an outstanding state legislator and someone who cares deeply about the community college,” Josh Shapiro, county commissioner chairman, told the Intelligencer. Rafferty, whose 44th district includes parts of Montgomery, Chester and Berks counties, was appointed one of two new members on the 15-member MCCC board of trustees. --- For the full story, visit www.phillyburbs.com ---

What's on the County Ballot?

Take a closer look at the offices you'll soon be voting to fill in Montgomery County.

County Commissioner: 'We Are the Rock of Gibraltar'

Commissioner Matthews has a positive financial outlook for Montgomery County compared to other area counties.

Commissioner James Matthews presented an encouraging view of the county’s economic standing at the last commissioners meeting, and stated that Montgomery County is the 16th wealthiest county in the United States. Matthews cited a Philly.com article from April 22, which cited data from the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis. According to the article, Montgomery County had a $63,469 per-capita income in 2009. The income placed it 16th “among the large counties in the U.S. and first among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties,” according to the article. Chester County ranked 28th in the data nationally with a $57,033 per capita income, and Bucks County was ranked 57th with a $46,516 per capita income. According to the article, the analysis also …
