Freezing Rain Advisory Issued For Montgomery County

Rough weather ahead for Montco.

It might be a good Friday night to stay in. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), at approximately 3:38 p.m. Friday, there is a Freezing Rain Advisory in affect for Montgomery County and surrounding areas. From 10 p.m. Friday evening to 8 a.m. Saturday morning, area residents are warned for icy and freezing conditions. A previously issued "Winter Weather Advisory" was cancelled.  The advisory warns of trace ice accumulations as a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain or rain may become all freezing rain overnight. "Icing wil create hazardous conditions on roadways and sidewalks overnight into Saturday morning," said the advisory. Temperatures are slated to stay in the low 30s through the evening. The NWS warns that the weather …

Weekend Shore Forecast

The shore will only provide a partial escape from this weekend's sweltering heat.

Hot air blowing east from the High Plains will impact our weather for the first half of the 4th of July holiday weekends...note the plural since the 4th falls on Wednesday and squarely in the middle of the week, which results in a few folks taking a full week off and enjoying a longer vacation.  We won't have a true "heat ridge" like the ones we have had the past couple of summers but with a southwesterly wind aloft we will see temperatures away from the shore and Delaware beaches jump into the mid and upper 90s for Friday, Saturday, and perhaps Sunday. The coastline will be warm as well — temperatures in the 80s both Saturday and Sunday at the shore, with the lower 90s at the Delaware beaches as the wind trajectory will allow for some sea…

Mercury Heading Higher This Weekend

After a week of cool temperatures, this weekend and the beginning of next week will be very warm

Remember the shorts you started to take out of mothballs when the weather got warm last month? Go get them. The past couple of days were reasonably pleasant, but this weekend, the temperatures will skyrocket into late-spring- and mid-summer-like magnitudes. A massive high pressure system will move into our area from the west this afternoon and continue into Saturday. This system will not last very long as it will retreat out to the Atlantic Ocean.  Today is going to be one of those days where you can't thank God enough that it is Friday. The sun will be at its finest and high temperatures will fly into the mid-60s. A breeze from the west at 5 to 10 mph will complete the final ingredient in making a great weather recipe to the weekend. …

Roller Coaster Ride of Weather

Today will be a random spike of warm weather before it all slopes back down to near-average temperatures for the rest of the week

Mother Nature needs to get her act together because the weather seems to be giving us all types of seasons. Last week was just a tease of summer. Yet, like winter, Ms. Nature will again make us flip into a double loop of unexpected weather. The past couple days made us realize that summer is still a couple months away and March is not over yet. The difference about today is that the high-pressure system that floated above us Monday and Tuesday will scurry to the south as a low-pressure system passes to our north. To better understand what I am talking about: When a low-pressure system, most commonly known as a mid-latitude cyclone, approaches an area, a front of cold air is on its way. Right before a cold front reaches the region, a warm …

More Soaking Weather In Store For The Weekend

The sun will try its best to poke through the clouds today, but more rain is expected to put a damper on any plans for the weekend

March did not really come marching in, but it it's definitely leaving some muddy bootprints. Even though it's the second day of the month, the sun seems shy as it hides behind the clouds. My spring break from college starts today, and this is not what I want to see; my hopes are high for a potentially beautiful pattern next week. Today will start out in the upper 30s with mostly cloudy skies. The sun will try its best to come out in the afternoon, which can bring the high temperatures to the low 50s. If the sun is too shy to come out, the temperatures may not reach the 50 degree mark. By the afternoon commute, clouds will quickly take over and thicken as a storm system approaches from the southwest.  Before I carry on, if you plan on …
