Philly Man Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

The man was also charged with reckless driving.

  Upper Dublin Police arrested a Philadelphia man Sunday night following a traffic stop in the 200 block of Commerce Drive. Norton L. Marques, 56, of Ambassador Street, was arrested Sunday shortly after 4:30 a.m. after he made a turn from Susquehanna Road onto southbound Pinetown Road, cut the corner, entered the wrong lane and drove off at a high rate of speed in a black 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck, police said. According to police, Marques was unsteady on his feet and his moves were lethargic. He also smelled strongly of alcohol, had red and glassy eyes and was slurring his speech, police said. Marques had his blood drawn at the hospital, and charges are pending the lab results; he was released to a friend.

A Pair of Suspected DUIs

Upper Dublin Police arrest two on suspicion of DUI.

DUI  … Sharandeep Singh, 21, of 2000 block of Blair Mill Road, Willow Grove, was arrested March 8 at 11:42 p.m. near the corner of Susquehanna and Twining roads after he made an illegal turn on red while driving a blue Kia Sorento, police said. According to police, Singh did not pull over immediately and there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the passenger compartment. Singh was unsteady on his feet, police said, and had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. He admitted to drinking, had a blood alcohol content of 0.197 percent and was released into the custody of a family member. --  DUI .. Dresher Man Arrested for Glove Box Gun

A Dresher man was arrested in Abington for having a loaded gun in his glove box.

  Abington Police arrested Edward Francis Bennis, 29, of Thrush Drive, Dresher, Jan. 10 at 11:51 p.m. following a traffic stop. Bennis was driving faster than 50 mph while he was headed eastbound on Jenkintown Road, where the speed limit is 35 mph, police said. The stop happened near the corner of Tyson and Fairhill avenues. According to police Bennis' license was DUI-suspended and Bennis had a .40-cal. Smith and Wesson handgun in the glove box of his vehicle. The weapon was loaded with 13 rounds of PPU 40 hollow point bullets. Bennis does not have a license to carry a firearm, police said.  Bennis was also arrested in March 2010 in Abington for DUI and arrested in Abington in 2006 for drug possession.
