I know many people have thought that the nutrition initiative was a waste of time that could have otherwise been spent on more important things, and actually I agree in part, too much unnecessary time was spent on this by parents, school board members and superintendent. This is not rocket science, it was simply to take out fully processed food, and replace it with more nutritional options. Somehow, this was made to seem like an insurmountable task, based on what was being communicated by food service, but in fact it was actually shown to be very doable. How do you feel about the proposal to lay turf in Cardinal Stadium?
Youth sports groups in the township have been raising funds for the possible turfing of Cadinal Stadium, and have raised $425,000, including a $100,000 commitment from the township Board of Commissioners. The district is already planning to replace the track in 2013. Read more about the proposal here.
The Upper Dublin School Board discussed laying turf on Cardinal Stadium on Monday night during the July school board meeting. A vote is expected in August.
Bob Danaher, from Upper Dublin Junior Athletic Association, and Bryan Pollack, from Upper Dublin Soccer Club, presented the proposal from the township’s youth sports clubs to lay turf on Cardinal Stadium to the School Board on Monday night. The school district already has plans to replace the track, which has been resurfaced twice and needs to be renovated for safety. The track is 25 years old. Danaher said if the district doesn’t put turf on the field of Cardinal Stadium while replacing the track, the board might as well say they are not going to turf Cardinal Stadium. The healthiest menu in the world is meaningless if no one eats it. UD has done a great job of providing a well balanced menu. Two years ago, the menu that offered two varieties of meals (a regular meal and a slightly more expensive healthier choice) was a great menu and kids liked both options.
