Letter to the Editor: Concerned About Fracking in Montco

A call to prohibit fracking in Montco.

In 1988, when I bought my first house, my thermostat was set at 72 degrees. By 1998, it was regularly set at 60 degrees. So you can see this adjustment to cooler temperatures has taken place gradually. We are hardier for it. The cold does not feel as cold, and I have learned that rather than needing a constant temperature, once becoming more active in the cold, we just need to be able to warm up…   more ›

'Operation Nine Reindeer' to Bring Christmas Miracles to Montco

A real-life Santa Claus has taken the initiative to help a pair of struggling Montco families

A pair of struggling Montco families will soon find themselves on the receiving end of a Christmas miracle, thanks to the efforts of 38-year-old Dutch Schrap, of East Coventry, who has decided to take his professional Santa routine to the next level. The son of the elder Santa Schrap, Dutch has followed in his father's snow-covered footsteps for the past 21 years. He's made appearances everywhere from the Lansdale Mardi Gras Parade to gigs with the Philadelphia Flyers and Sixers, and he's even rung the opening bell at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. This year, however, he's looking to expand on his role by initiating Operation Nine Reindeer, which seeks to aid two families who are in desperate need of support. It all began on October 1, …

Creating the (Almost) Perfect Marriage

Selecting the Right Affinity Organizations for Your Business

One of the first things that business owners do (or consign one of their partners or employees to do) is to join a business networking group.  These groups can take the form of chambers of commerce, community organizations, formal networking groups and other groups that involve networking but exist for other purposes. Determining which networking groups to become involved with can make the difference between being a drain on your time, resources and energy and being one of the most rewarding experiences in your career as an entrepreneur. Today we will take a look at the various options available to you and look at the considerations to take into account to help you affiliate with the best mix of groups that will provide the best match for …
