Another Taste Of May In March

Spring has sprung.

May — I mean March — continues on a mostly warm note. Yeah, we've had a couple of days where low clouds and fog have wrecked temperature forecasts and we didn't get as warm as hoped or hyped. Thanks to the natural air conditioner known as the Atlantic Ocean (where water temperatures are around 50 degrees) and a high pressure center to the east, a weak southeasterly flow has been the culprit in bringing a couple of mornings of low clouds and fog. This resulted in mild — but not as warm — temperatures on a couple of occasions last week. However, we did break 70 three times. We will have to contend with low clouds and fog on a few mornings this week. The best chances for persistent cloud cover and temperature forecast busts are Tuesday, as a …

The Week Ahead: What to Look for in Upper Dublin

Spring sports begin and the Planning Commission tackles a few noteworthy proposals.

Welcome to the week of Monday, March 19. Although it seems as though spring has already arrived, Monday marks the last official day of winter. The weather this week should be fitting, as highs continually fall in the 70's this week, with lows only dipping below 50 on Friday as a cold front moves in for the weekend. Spring sports also begin this week for Upper Dublin High School, as the boys tennis team hosts a slate of games and Lady LAX looks to get revenge on Abington for last year's season-opening loss. Residents may want to keep an eye on Tuesday's Planning Commission meeting, which has several noteworthy items on the agenda, including the proposed Wawa on Virginia Drive, an improvement plan for sidewalks at the Maple Glen Shopping …

Vote Now: Best Family Restaurant in Upper Dublin

For this week's Readers' Choice poll, Patch is wondering: what's the best family-friendly restaurant in Upper Dublin?

A good restaurant is critical to the American family. Time isn't always a luxury, so having a place to go that serves food kids will eat, at prices and nutrition levels parents like, is important. Patch is wondering what Upper Dublin restaurant best fits this description. Polls have opened for your votes and will close Friday at 9 a.m. We'll then announce the winner and stop by the restaurant to drop off a Patch Readers' Choice certificate. In the event of a tie, we'll break it using the number of positive reviews in this article's comments section. Only restaurants that fall within Upper Dublin's municipal borders qualify, and please remind us if we missed one. Visit Ambler Patch to vote on which restaurant is the best in our western …

Poll: Best Coffee in Upper Dublin

Where do you get your brew?

Last week, Maple Glen Pizza won our first "Best Of" competition by garnering 33 percent of over 110 votes when we asked who had the best takeout in Upper Dublin. This week, we're interested in your go-to spot for coffee. We expect a pretty lively competition over America's fuel, so let us know if we didn't list your favorite spot and we'll add it. We're trying to stick to the dedicated coffee and breakfast places, but if you know a restaurant that has the best stuff around, we'll put it on the list. Polls close at 9:00 a.m. Friday, before we present a certificate to the winner. In the event of a tie, we'll decide the champ based on the number of positive comments about the winner, so be sure to share your opinion. Your contestants are: …

Winner Winner, Maple Glen Pizza Dinner

Maple Glen Pizza voted best takeout in Upper Dublin.

According to Upper Dublin Patch readers, Maple Glen Pizza is the place to go for takeout in the township. Over 100 readers cast their vote in our inaugural "Best Of" contest this week, and nearly 33 percent of them voted for MGP, located at 641 West Welsh Road in Maple Glen. The Fireside Bar and Grille came in second with 21 percent of the vote, and In the Bag third with 10 percent. A look at Maple Glen Pizza's menu might explain why they won the crown, with just about every Italian and American food you could want, including a section labeled "Maple Glen Specialties." Maple Glen Pizza isn't just a wonderful place to eat, but they also contribute to their community. In particular I'd like to recognize them for their support of Boy Scout Eagle service projects. They have donated countless pizzas to these hard working boys, and we really appreciate it! Thanks, Maple Glen Pizza - well deserved!   more ›
