The Lady Cards nearly found themselves on the wrong side of a no-hitter, until Sarah Rosenbaum hit a home run in the bottom of the 7th.
The Upper Dublin softball team fell to rival Wissahickon on Thursday, 3-1, as the Lady Cards faced a near-perfect performance from Trojans starting pitcher, Katie Ziegler, on Thursday afternoon. Ziegler was credited with the win, allowing only one run on one hit, which came courtesy of Upper Dublin's Sarah Rosenbaum homerun in the bottom of the 7th inning. The Lady Cards received another solid outing from pitcher Kristin Ganderton, who surrendered two earned-runs on five hits while striking out 10, but that wasn't enough to outduel her Trojan counterpart. The Upper Dublin squad is now 8-8 on the season, with a record of 4-6 in Suburban One League play.

Eight errors plague the Lady Cards as they fall to 2-3 on the season
The Upper Dublin softball team fell to the Upper Merion Vikings 14-6 on Tuesday afternoon, in a game in which the Lady Cardinals had more errors than runs. The Vikings squad struck early and often, scoring runs in every inning except the third and taking advantage of the eight errors committed by the Lady Cards. Upper Merion's Krysta Wellington went 2-4 with a homerun, 3 RBIs and three runs scored, and Nicole Battaglio went 3-5 with a homerun, 2 RBIs and a run scored. The Lady Cards' Ashleigh Sharp had another solid outing, going 3-4 with 2 runs scored, and Rachel Hyman went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBIs, but neither effort was enough to overcome the offensive explosion by the Vikings. Lady Cards pitcher Kristen Ganderton was handed the …

Upper Dublin beat Bucks 46-35
Coming into Wednesday night's District I consolation semifinal matchup against Central Bucks West, Upper Dublin guard Cutrena Goff was battling flu-like symptoms. However, once on the court, Goff did a different kind of battling; scoring a team high 16 points in a gritty 46-35 Cardinals win that was close until the final minutes. The junior point guard left her illness out of her post game comments. "I felt fine, I came out and just really wanted to win," Goff said. "We came out with a mentality that we weren't going to go home early." Upper Dublin head coach Vincent Catanzaro filled in the details. "She's been sick, [physically ill]," said Catanzaro. "She was sick the whole game, but just gutted it out." The game was close through the …

Bryant, Rothfeld lead Lady Cardinals in second half comeback.
With his team down five at halftime to visiting Central Bucks South and the season on the line, Upper Dublin girls basketball head coach Vincent Catanzaro laid into his players. "I told them if you don't get hungry in there and you don't rebound the ball, and you're not diving on the floor [for loose balls], you're not going to be in there very long," Catanzaro said of his locker room speech. "And in the second half that's all we did was move, move, move. There was no standing around." Besides moving, the Lady Cardinals also scored in the second half, erasing an 18-13 half time deficit to defeat the visiting Titans 41-34. Guard Taylor Bryant led Upper Dublin with 15 points, all but one of which came in the second half. The 1,000-point …

Haverford holds Cardinals to six second half points in comeback.
Players on the Upper Dublin girls’ basketball team weren't quite sure what hit them Wednesday night. At halftime, it appeared to be business as usual; the Lady Cardinals had just built themselves a 10-point lead by playing their trademark stingy defense and scoring off turnovers, and would only need 16 more minutes of smart basketball to defeat visiting Haverford and punch a ticket to states. The sixth-seeded Cardinals would march on, and 11th seeded Haverford could fight it out in the consolations of the District 1 AAAA basketball tournament. But then everything, and nothing, happened. The everything was a fiery Haverford team clawing back, led by senior center Sharee Halstead's play in the paint, as a raucous visiting student section …

Upper Dublin defeated Sun Valley, 56-30
Just days after being honored at an Upper Dublin school board meeting for amassing 1,000 points in her basketball career, Lady Cardinals guard Taylor Bryant found herself with zero heading into halftime against Sun Valley in the District 1 playoff opener Saturday afternoon. However, a smile remained on her face, as her hustle and steals helped to build a 24-13 lead after two quarters, a margin from which the Lady Cardinals (19-4) would never look back. The feisty play of Bryant, along with the hot hand of fellow guard Cutrena Goff, who led Upper Dublin with 15 points, sparked the Lady Cardinals to a 56-30 victory over the visiting Vanguards (14-9). Head coach Vince Catanzaro said he was happy with Bryant's play and spoke with her at the …
