UD Sports: Lacrosse Blanks Rival Wissahickon, 17-0

With the win, the Flying Cardinals remain undefeated in league play.

The Flying Cardinals continued their run of dominance on Monday afternoon, outscoring Wissahickon 17-0 and strengthening their grip on first place in the Suburban One League. Brooke Callahan and Kelly Cross were both credited with 4 goals and 4 assists, and Julie Cross added in another 3 goals and 1 assist. Emily Hitchings, Taylor D'Ginto, Rachel DiFrangia and Anna Trentini also scored for the Flying Cardinals. Freshman goalie Sarah Gallagher had 5 saves on the afternoon, and stingy defense from Steph Speese, Danielle Ferguson, Anna Petrucci and Sam Boyd helped contribute to the shutout. The Flying Cardinals are 8-1 overall, and 6-0 in the Suburban One League.

LAX Star Rama Excels in Summer All-star Competitions

The UDHS junior is putting on a show for college coaches.

Enjoying this summer's warm weather can wait for Michael Rama, at least until he finds a college where favorable temperatures are typical. In the meantime, the Upper Dublin junior continues playing his chosen sport of lacrosse, while thinking about what he'll do after high school. "I'm starting to think about college because it's getting closer," Rama said. "I'd like to go somewhere south, where it's real warm, and where they have a good lacrosse program." To that end, Rama has found a way to stand out among a team laden with top players from Abington and Hatboro-Horsham players, as a member of the Wet Bandits traveling team.
