Funeral for the former scout and baseball player to be held Saturday in Abington
Edith Grace Houghton, 100, of Sarasota, Fla., died Feb. 2, just eight days shy of her 101st birthday. Born in Philadelphia, Houghton was a 1930 graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls. Houghton was also a baseball prodigy and played professionally with the “Bobbies.” After World War II, the Philadelphia Phillies approached her to be a scout for the team.
