Monday Morning Quarterback

Philadelphia Eagles Losing Streak Hits Eight Games

Bryce Brown fumble late in game sinks Philadelphia Eagles against Dallas Cowboys.

A win looked possible. And then, late in the fourth quarter Sunday night, the wings fell off the Philadelphia Eagles once again. Rookies Nick Foles and Bryce Brown put up impressive numbers, but Brown coughed up another fumble that sealed victory for the Dallas Cowboys as the Birds fell 38-33. The Birds made it close at the end with a nifty punt return TD by another rookie, Demaris Johnson. The Birds secondary once again looked like swiss cheese as Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo was able to thread through it, slipping passes easily through to Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten several times in the middle of the field for big plays. While the pass rush was much better and there was some pressure, there were more missed tackles and …

Philadelphia Eagles Lose Vick, Lose Game, Lose Season

Philadelphia Eagles fall to rival Dallas Cowboys to put the season on the brink.

Five straight losses. And one against an NFC East rival. If that doesn't spell doom and gloom -- as the title of the new Rolling Stones song states -- for the Philadelphia Eagles' season, then a 3-6 record certainly does. With Michael Vick knocked out by a concussion and the Eagles season pretty much over, the Nick Foles era has begun in Philadelphia. The Birds showed some promise early on in grabbing a 17-10 lead, but turnovers had the Eagles falling to the Dallas Cowboys, 38-23. The Cowboys scored touchdowns on a punt return, an interception and a fumble recovery in the end zone, all in a short span to clip the Birds. Foles looked good at times, keeping his composure in his first NFL game and even firing a 53-yard touchdown pass to …

Philadelphia Eagles At Mid-Season: Grade F

Philadelphia Eagles struggling once again at 3-5 in middle of NFL season.

It seems like a full season already. But the NFL season is only half over for the Philadelphia Eagles. Are they dead yet? At 3-5, it's getting close. They're probably on life support and hanging by a thread. One ray of hope: The New York Giants finished at 9-7 last year and won the Super Bowl. Yeah, I know. Keep dreaming. So far, it's best to say the first half was a nightmare for the Birds and their fans. The Birds start the second half Sunday at home against the rival Dallas Cowboys. So let's hand out the grades to the players and coaches for their efforts -- or lack of effort -- in a season that everyone hoped would turn around after a disappointing 8-8 season last year. MVP: It's really hard to pick a player. You'd probably have to go …
