Township Accepts New Contract, Rates for Sidewalk Replacement

Upper Dublin Township accepted a $97,000 bid from Horgan Brothers, setting new prices for residents who wish to use the township for curb and sidewalk construction.

An Upper Dublin resident who wishes to replace his sidewalk or curb has two options: have the work done through an independent contractor, or ask the township to complete the work. Anyone choosing the latter option will now pay the township's agreed upon rate with Horgan Brothers, Inc., of Harleysville, after the Board of Commissioners accepted a $97,599 bid for 2012, the lowest responsible bid of the seven that were presented to the township. However, Upper Dublin officials were the first to say that residents often get a better deal through independent contractors.
