Kohl's Thieves Strike Again, Police Seek Help with ID

Whitpain Police are seeking public help in identifying a man and a woman matching the description of those involved in numerous thefts from area Kohl's Department Stores.

The Whitpain Township Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying a man and a woman matching the description of those involved in numerous thefts from Kohl's Department Stores throughout the area. According to a press release, a white male wearing a tan Carhart jacket and jeans entered Kohl's on Skippack Pike at 6:14 p.m. on Friday, April 12. The man walked to the housewares department, where he allegedly grabbed two Kitchen-Aid 600 mixers before exiting the store through a rear fire door. The mixers had a combined value of $1,099.98, the report states. Store employees followed the man outside, where they observed him "drop the two boxes containing the mixers," before entering the driver's seat of a vehicle and fleeing …

Benjamin F. Cake of Blue Bell, U.S. Navy Lieutenant

Benjamin F. Cake was an alumnus of Cheltenham High School and Franklin and Marshall College.

Benjamin F. Cake, of Blue Bell, formerly of Rydal, died March 24 at Normandy Farms Estates. He was 97.  Born in Glenside, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Julia (Burns) Cake.  Cake was a graduate of Cheltenham High School and attended Franklin and Marshall College. A lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, he earned his wings at Pensacola, Fla. and was a pilot during World War II. Cake served as vice president of the printing and lithograph division at Diamond International Corporation for over 30 years. During the years of raising his family, he was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Later, he was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Blue Bell Resident Helps Raise Funds for Lung Cancer Research

Blue Bell resident and Fort Washington native has helped raise $7,000 for lung cancer research.

Blue Bell resident and Fort Washington native, Dr. Sharon Testa learned she had stage IV lung cancer on Memorial Day of 2009, according to a report in the Ambler Gazette. She began a trial study of chemotherapy treatments from the University of Pennsylvania in Dec. of 2010. Today, Testa continues her fight against cancer, while working full time and being a full time mother of twin 13 year old girls. "To raise awareness and the much needed funding, Testa said the seventh annual Free to Breath Lung Cancer Walk will be held Nov. 4 at Memorial Hall in Philadelphia." Testa has helped raise over $7,000 for lung cancer research.

With less than 24 hours until the polls open in Pennsylvania, former President Bill Clinton stopped at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell to rally Democratic voters. Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, as well as Congressional candidates George Badey and Kathy Boockvar preceded Clinton at the rostrum. President Bill Clinton in Blue Bell on Monday

Tickets available to the public for free.

President Bill Clinton will tour through Pennsylvania on Monday, Nov. 5 to rally Obama-Biden supporters, with stops in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton, and Blue Bell. Clinton has been campaigning through swing states in a final push the last week before the election, including Iowa, Florida, Colorado, Ohio, Virginia, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin.  The Blue Bell event is open to the public and will be held at Montgomery County Community College's Physical Education Center Gymnasium. Tickets are free but required for entry and are available online. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.

Blue Bell Man Charged with DUI in North Wales

A Blue Bell man has been charged with DUI in connection with a Sept. 14 incident in North Wales.

A Blue Bell man has be charged with DUI in connection with a Sept. 14 incident in North Wales. According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 14, at approximately 11:29 p.m., an officer was on a special detail at a local bar and restaurant located at 201 East Walnut St. in North Wales.  The officer allegedly observed a dark colored Infiniti stopped on 2nd St. near the intersection of East Walnut St. After observing the vehicle sit in the same location for several minutes, the officer approached the vehicle and knocked on the driver's side window to make sure everything was all right and to inform the driver that his vehicle had to be moved because it was causing a traffic hazard.  According to the court documents, the driver, …

KenCrest's fundraiser, Taste of the Community, was a delicious night in Blue Bell.

The second annual Taste of the Community was held on Thursday at Prophecy Creek Park in Blue Bell. Approximately 25 regional restaurants and breweries tempted the taste buds of guests with delights ranging from the savory to the sweet and everything in-between. Mary Cullom, owner of Arpeggio in Spring House, told Patch that this was their first time at Taste of the Community, but they chose to volunteer their time and donate food to the cause because they love the venue, the organization, and like donating back to the community, especially for a great cause. Betsy Gibbons, the owner of ICED by Betsy of Limerick, said she attended the first Taste of the Community night in 2011 and enjoyed the event that when this year came around, she …
