The accident took place near the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Hagues Mill Road. Bethlehem Pike was reportedly closed between Butlet Pike and Tennis Avenue. The @MontcoAlerts feed on Twitter, which typically monitors emergency responder radio transmissions, identified the vehicle as a trash truck and said the deceased subject was "under" the truck. An aerial photograph published by NBC Philadelphia showed what appeared to be a trash or a recycling truck partially pulled off the roadway, perhaps in the process of making a right turn, with a tarp concealing a section of the underlying roadway near the…

A Fun Space for Families Opens in Lower Gwynedd

Made with Love Cafe and Playhouse, a place for kids to play and parents to work or relax, opened in Lower Gwynedd this past Saturday.

Created to cater to busy families, Made with Love Café and Playhouse, at 617 N Bethlehem Pike in Spring House, offers toys and games for babies, toddlers, and even tweens, as well as free wifi, coffee and pastries for parents. Owner, Candice Love, said she’s from Ambler, works in University City, is finishing up her PhD program, and is a mom of a 5 year old son. She said this is the kind of place she would want to bring her son. Love said the idea was sparked when her son outgrew a similar concept in Chestnut Hill, but she still wanted a somewhere to take him to play while she did schoolwork. When she saw the space, she fell in love with it. The murals in the space were all painted by her family - the kids handprints in the playhouse were …

Definitely very decent restaurants in Spring House, but...what on earth is going on with the empty big former Texaco at the intersect and the adjacent island between the roads where the realtor used to be? Who in their right mind would walk there and relax enjoy the view?? The little building made of stone must have cost a lot and well it is just unusual. If you are going to spend tax dollars …   more ›

Fire Chief Praises Emergency Response to Flooding, Fire

Emergency responders were tested in Upper Dublin last night, and it appears they passed with flying colors.

Friday evening was strange one for Upper Dublin township, as a heavy rainstorm that hit the area around 6:30 p.m. flooded the township and left many in need of emergency assistance. Abington Patch editor Mischa Arnosky was one of those individuals, as his car became stuck in a flash flood on Commerce Drive near West German BMW. Arnosky states that within minutes, the water level had reached his car's hood. Luckily he was able to escape unharmed, and take footage of the roadway. There were no reported injuries around the township, despite a heavy volume of emergency calls. "The Fire Company was dispatched for numerous water rescue calls for people stuck in rising waters in their vehicles," said Fort Washington Fire Company Chief Eric …
