OMG PD: Woman Cited Three Times in One Day for Panhandling at Redner's

This week's stories include an alleged panhandler who can't take a hint, an allegedly drunken driver who police say pushed emergency personnel while they were rescuing her and a Norristown man who picked a bad place to sleep one off.

If at First You Don't Succeed: According to a report in the Pottstown Patch, a 22-year-old woman was cited three times in one day after she repeatedly panhandled for cigarettes outside of Redner's. The woman reportedly launched into profanity-laden tirades directed towards the store's manager as well as responding officers. When police declined the woman's request for money, she reportedly said that someone who "is working and making so much" should be able to give her money. Read the full story here. Tambourino Pleads Guilty to Fireside Assault, Sentenced to Prison

Marino Tambourino, 36, was sentenced to six-to-23 months in prison after pleading guilty to the assault of David Rogers, of Lansdale, at the Fireside Bar and Grill in March of 2012.

Marino A. Tambourino, 36, of Ambler, was sentenced to six-to-23 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the March 2012 assault of a Lansdale man at the Fireside Bar and Grill. In addition to the prison sentence, Tambourino will also have to complete two years' of probation following his parole, according to the Reporter. The report adds that he will be eligible for work release while incarcerated. Though originally charged with felony aggravated assault, Tambourino pleaded guilty to the lesser charges of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person as part of Monday's plea agreement. Ambler Man Heading to Jury Trial in Fireside Assault Case

Marino Tambourino, 35, is charged with felony aggravated assault and related offenses in connection with the beating of a Lansdale man at the Fireside Bar and Grill in March of 2012.

A jury trial has been scheduled for 35-year-old Marino Tambourino, of Ambler, who is accused of beating a Lansdale man at the Fireside Bar and Grill on Saint Patrick's Day in 2012. Tambourino, whose trial is set for April 22 at 9 a.m. at the Montgomery County Courthouse, is charged with felony aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment, in connection with the incident. Police responded to the Fireside during the early hours of Sunday, March 18, 2012, for a report of an assault. This week's stories include a man who allegedly threw his weed at cops during a traffic stop and a Whitemarsh man who quickly went from a victim to arrestee.

Driver Throws Weed At Cops: According to a report in the Abington Patch, a 44-year-old man is facing drug charges after he allegedly threw a bag of marijuana at an officer during a traffic stop. When police asked the man what he did, he responded, "[Expletive], I can't believe I just threw weed at cops." The man also allegedly confessed to having "a little rock down [his] pants." Police: Ambler Man Assaults Police Officers after Injuring Girlfriend

Whitemarsh Police say they had to taser an Ambler man after he attacked officers.

Ambler resident, 33-year-old Frank Melograna, Jr., faces three felony counts of aggravated assault after Whitemarsh police say he injured his girlfriend before striking a police officer last Friday night. According to a court affidavit, Whitemarsh police were dispatched to the home of Melograna's girlfriend at approximately 10 p.m. Friday, after they received a report of a domestic disturbance. They were advised that Melograna was outside the home and likely under the influence of a narcotic. Upon arrival, two police officers saw Melograna emerge from a space between two row homes and walk toward them in an "aggressive manor,” before throwing a set of keys at the officers, the report said. Charges Held Over In Fireside Assault

Marino Tambourino, of Ambler, will face a formal arraignment in county court at 9:30 a.m on July 18.

Following an unsuccessful attempt to have his charges dropped during a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Marino Tambourino, of Ambler, will face a formal arraignment at the county courthouse on July 18. Tambourino, 35, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person, in connection with the alleged Saint Patrick's Day beating of a Lansdale man at the Fireside Bar and Grill in Ambler. According to a report by Linda Finarelli with the Ambler Gazette, defense attorney Scott Krieger argued that the charges should be dropped because the victim did not testify. [Update: all charges against May Seng Yang were later withdrawn by the prosecution and the case was closed on 6/25/2012.] Actor Terrence Howard, of "Red Tails" and "Iron Man" fame, was assaulted by former girlfriend and Plymouth Meeting resident May Seng Yang, 39, of 1919 Sandy Hill Road, Plymouth Meeting, earlier this month, police say. An affidavit of probable cause filed at the 38-1-23 district court in Lafayette Hill describes the incident as one in which Howard and a current girlfriend attest Yang harassed the couple at their residential gate before assaulting the actor, while Yang gave several conflicting stories that Howard assaulted her. Preliminary Hearing Continued for Man Accused in Fireside Assault

Marino A. Tambourino had his preliminary hearing continued after changing lawyers.

A preliminary hearing for Marino A. Tambourino, the Ambler resident charged with assaulting a man on St. Patrick's Day, has been continued at the request of the defense. Tambourino was scheduled to appear before Magisterial Justice Patricia Zaffarano in Ambler Monday, but a court official said the preliminary hearing was continued after the defendant changed lawyers. A court document shows that Tambourino changed his attorney to Scott Krieger, of Norristown, on March 29th. He was formerly represented at his arraignment by James DiVergilis, a Philadelphia-based attorney who is no longer part of his defense. Tambourino is currently free on bail after family members posted $2,500, or 10 percent of a total $25,000 bond, at his arraignment. …

Fireside Beating Victim Released from Hospital

The police investigation continues.

Dave Rogers, the Lansdale resident who was beaten inside the Fireside Bar and Grille during St. Patrick's Day festivities early Sunday, has been released from Abington Memorial Hospital. Rogers, who on Sunday posted a picture to his Facebook that showed his face badly bloodied and bruised, was discharged from the hospital Monday evening, according to an on-duty nurse at the hospital. Upper Dublin Police have not yet released official information about the incident as an investigation is ongoing, but detectives did say that police were called to the Fireside at 1:12 a.m. on Sunday.
