Recall: Strollers Due to Finger Amputation

Kolcraft three and four wheel strollers recalled for finger amputation and laceration hazards.

Kolcraft has recalled its Contours Options three and four wheeled strollers due to fingertip amputation and laceration hazards. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission release said a child or a consumer’s finger can get caught in the opened that is formed when locking and unlocking the hinge mechanism, which is used to adjust the handlebars on the strollers. There have been five reports of injuries involving the hinge mechanism, including three children whose fingertips were amputated and two adults whose fingers were wither smashed or lacerated. Kolcraft says there are about 36,000 of the two strollers in the US market and were sold at juvenile specialty stores nationwide, as well as Amazon.com, Target.com and ToysRUs.com, between …

You mean Kolcraft failed to test this apparatus prior to launching on the market and amputations resulted? Do they not have a product safety department that checks these things out THOROUGHLY? Very unfortunate and truely sad.   more ›
