Gallery: Phanatic Kicks Off Annual YMCA Support Campaign

The Philadelphia Phanatic served as the Guest of Honor for the kickoff to the Ambler YMCA's Annual Support Campaign.

The Philadelphia Phanatic dropped by the Ambler YMCA on Friday, as he was named the Guest of Honor for the YMCA's 2013 Annual Support Campaign. Area YMCAs Opening Doors to Community in Need

The Ambler Area YMCA and the Abington YMCA are open to the community who have lost power and need assistance.

The YMCA of Phildelphia & Vicinity announced earlier this morning that the Abington YMCA and the Ambler Area YMCA will open their doors to the local community members who have lost power and may be in need of assistance in the coming hours. Both Y's invite youth, adults and families to utilize their facilities to taking warm showers and charging electronic equipment (cell phones, laptops, etc). "We know that many of our friends and neighbors have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy and we want to make sure we can assist them during this time of need," said John F. Flynn, President & CEO of the YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity. "We encourage anyone that needs to charge any electronics or to take a warm shower to contact the Abington or Ambler …

Elizabeth Lampkin Named Ambler Area YMCA Volunteer of the Year

Elizabeth Lampkin, who has been volunteering with the Ambler Area YMCA for more than 30 years, was recognized as Volunteer of the Year.

From Ambler Area YMCA: For her enthusiasm and commitment to the Y, Elizabeth Lampkin has been namedthe “Ambler Area YMCA Volunteer of the Year.” John F. Flynn, CEO & President of the YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity, recognized Lampkin’s efforts at the YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity’s Annual Meeting on June 7, 2012 at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. While being a part of the Y family for more than 30 years, Lampkin has volunteered her time and efforts for countless programs and events at the Y such as Healthy Kids Day, Breakfast with Santa and Teen Nights.
