UPDATE: On-Tap Philly Not Coming to Ambler, Owner Discusses New Plan for Restaurant

On-Tap Philly owner Dustin Majka informed Patch that the new bar will not be opening in Ambler. Instead, a new restaurant with a new concept will take it's place in roughly four-to-five weeks.

The long-awaited arrival of On-Tap Philly to Ambler came to a screeching halt on Thursday, when owner Dustin Majka informed Patch that he is no longer going to open the bar at the former location of Finn McCool's. Majka would not specifiy the reasons for cancelling the planned opening, but he added that he plans to stay on with a new group, and they intend to open a different restaurant at the same location within a month. According to their Facebook page, the new group intends to change the name and concept of the restaurant, but they also plan to retain all employees that were hired on under the On-Tap Philly business plan. They have also tentatively scheduled their opening for four-to-five weeks from now, and have even created a contest…

Local Ambler Chef Competes on Food Network

Chef-owner of The Lucky Well in Ambler will compete on the ninth season of Food Network Star.

The ninth season of Food Network Star will feature a familiar face among the 12 contestants vying for  their own Food Network show. Chad Rosenthal, owner of the new Lucky Well restaurant in Ambler and the former Rosey's BBQ on Main Street, will put his charms, personality and cooking skills to the test. According to a press release from Food Network, viewers will be given the chance to vote online or by phone before the Aug. 11 finale to choose the winner and which contestant will get their own show on Food Network. And, one contestant will be brought back after elimination "for another chance at victory." Food Network Star premieres on Sunday, June 2 at 9 p.m. on Food Network and the finale, with the winner announced, will be on Aug. 11. …

The Montgomery County Health Department in March conducted inspections of food-service establishments in the Upper Dublin Patch area. Upper Dublin Township Health Inspections A Taste of Philly, Maple Glen Elementary, Dairy Queen, and Jarrettown Elementary among the establishments inspected in the month of March. Willow Grove Health Inspections Elevation Burger, Jimmy John's, Randazzo's Pizza, Yogurtland, and more inspected during the month of March. Ambler Borough Health Inspections McDonald's, Rita's Water Ice, The Flour Pot and more inspected during the month of March.

Glenside, Ambler Restaurants Participating in Dining Out for Life

Dining Out for Life is Thursday, April 25.

Dining Out for Life, a day long fundraiser for HIV/AIDS at local restaurants will be held on Thursday, April 25 in the Philadelphia region. Over 150 restaurants in the region will be donating 33 percent of the night's proceeds for benefit HIV/AIDS research and men and women living with HIV/AIDS. Locally, Roberto's Trattoria, at 700 Bethlhem Pike in Glenside; Trax Restaurant, at 27 W Butler Pike in Ambler will both be participating for any meal all day on Thursday. Volunteers Sought for Ambler Arts and Music Festival

Various help is needed for the two-day festival of music and art, which is scheduled from June 14 and June 15.

Ambler Borough Councilwoman Pat Strus has put out a request for volunteers for this year's Ambler Arts and Music Festival, which is scheduled for Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15. The festival will be anchored by two outdoor stages on Butler Avenue, featuring the area's top bands, as well as the art show which kicks off at the same time. Volunteers are needed to help artists unpack, serve as cashiers for the beer gardens, general clean up, and many other things. The Friday hours span from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the Saturday hours span from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. I you have some extra time, and would like to become involved in the event, contact Pat Strus at tricia373@comcast.net. The Painted Home announces 'brick and mortar' location in Doylestown.

The Painted Home, owned by Upper Dublin resident Denise Sabia, has announced that The Painted Home, which, until now has been a by appointment only business, has a new "brick and mortar" location at Serendipity Shops in Doylestown. Serendipity, which opened in Doylestown on April 1 at 33 S Main St., has a little something for everyone, including antiques, home furnishings, accessories, and more.
