Willow Grove Man Arrested After Doing a Favor

The man didn't want his father's car to be towed, police said.

  Abington police arrested a Willow Grove man after he attempted to pick up his father’s car.  Antonio Orlina, 24, of Decatur Avenue, was arrested after he went to retrieve his father’s car after his father was arrested during a traffic stop for having an outstanding warrant, police said. According to police, the stop happened in early March near the corner of Welsh Road and Coolidge Avenue. Police said Orlina didn’t want his father’s vehicle to be towed. Police, knowing that Orlina also had an outstanding warrant, waited by the vehicle and attempted to arrest him. Guns for Giant Gift Cards

The Abington, Upper Dublin and Upper Moreland police departments will hold a gun buy-back program Saturday.

  Tauruses for tilapia? Glocks for grapes? AKs for apricots? Local police departments, in conjunction with the grassroots organization Bridging our Communities, will hold a gun buyback program Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at New Bethel AME Church in Willow Grove. All guns turned in will be exchanged for Giant Food Stores gift cards. The rate? $75 gift cards for handguns and rifles and $125 gift cards for assault rifles. All guns will be turned in anonymously, as in no identification required and “no questions asked.” The guns should be turned in unloaded. No toy or pellet guns will be accepted. Roads To Be Closed for Officer Fox Funeral

Due to the viewing and funeral for Plymouth Township Police Officer Bradley Fox, there will be several road closures Tuesday and Wednesday.

  On Tuesday Sept. 18, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.; and Wednesday Sept. 19, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., the following roadways will be closed in Whitpain and Plymouth townships: SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch said bus routes 95 and 98 will be operating, but will be taking local detours. Click on the above links for maps and schedules of each route. "There will probably be minor delays so riders should allow for some extra time on both days, Tuesday and Wednesday," Busch said.  Fox was murdered Thursday Sept. 13. See the story here. Thank you. I mean what will the detours add 5 - 10 minutes to the commute. The entire STATE is in mourning. This local tragedy has affected me in a way that I thought it never would. I just came on here to get the route from the church to the cemetary and wanted to see all the lovely things people have ben saying and to see this guy rant over and over and over just really upset me.   more ›

Alleged Twining Road Burglar Has Criminal History

Police released the name of the suspect who allegedly burglarized a house in the 1700 block of Twining Road yesterday.

Robert J. Blair, 48, of the 700 block of Lower State Road, North Wales, was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, theft and related charges stemming from the burglary of a home in the 1700 block of Twining Road yesterday at about noon, according to Sgt. Michael J. Byrne of the Upper Dublin Township Police Department. The homeowner interrupted the burglar; she declined to comment yesterday. “The victim came home, she saw [the burglar] in the house, and he fled,” Byrne said. “But she got a good description of him and his car, and officers in the area were able to stop him."
