Memorial Day BBQ? 8 Money-Saving Tricks (Sponsored)

Who’s NOT planning a BBQ this weekend? If the weather holds and you’ve got propane or charcoal, chances are, you’re grilling something with your friends and family. Here are new ideas for keeping your costs down. Sponsored by Home Depot.

Here at Patch, we like to be thrifty, so we talked to two barbecue experts and uncovered some really good ideas to help you save money on your next outdoor party.   1. Start with a marinade. This means planning ahead—say, Friday. But it’s worth it, says Rick Browne, host of Barbecue America on PBS, because you can pass up that well-marbled rib eye steak and buy a less tender and less expensive choice to grill like a flank steak or chuck steak. I agree with Hugh. What is your issue John? You probably don't have any problem with this administration playing games with people's constitutional rights. What a foolish statement. Sly Fox, you are a joke. You admit to never stepping foot into a Costco, yet loathe it so! You sound like an elitist!   more ›

SEPTA Could Reduce Its Rate Hikes

The transportation company has proposed minor changes to its price increases.

While SEPTA is still moving forward with its strategy to increase fairs and utilize smart cards for passengers, the regional transportation company might not be increasing the cost of its rides quite as much as it once planned. According to a report in Philly.com, SEPTA is considering scaling back its raised wages, though not in a major way. A board committee will vote on the slight scale back on Thursday. Here is what’s being proposed: According to the report, the change is “designed to avoid a large price increase for airport workers.” Will changes to the rates make you more or less likely to ride SEPTA? Tell us in the comments area below.

This is a product of the school districts giving up the mechanism of basic English. Counting on computer to do spell checks. That doesn't do any good when words sound alike but aren't spelled the same :( That is why the basic newspaper is going to the wayside, can't pay for proof readers!   more ›
