Robert L. Frick, Fort Washington Firefighter [Obit]

Robert L. Frick, of Abington, died Feb. 24. He was 55. Frick was an assistant engineer with the Fort Washington Fire Co. He was the husband of Holly (nee Dixon), and father of William and Jackie. Arden C. “Art” Stover, of Fort Washington, died Sunday, Feb. 10 at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 84.  Born in Franconia, he was the son of the late Edwin Stover and the late Eva (Alderfer) Stover. He is the husband of R. Elizabeth “Betty” Stover; father of Bruce L., Barry A., and Bret E. Edith Grace Houghton, 100, Former Phillies Scout [Obit]

Funeral for the former scout and baseball player to be held Saturday in Abington

  Edith Grace Houghton, 100, of Sarasota, Fla., died Feb. 2, just eight days shy of her 101st birthday. Born in Philadelphia, Houghton was a 1930 graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls. Houghton was also a baseball prodigy and played professionally with the “Bobbies.” After World War II, the Philadelphia Phillies approached her to be a scout for the team.   The Upper Dublin School District announced yesterday that former Jarrettown Elementary School Principal Henry Louis “Hank” Ferguson has died. Ferguson was principal of the school for 35 years, beginning in 1954 and serving through 1989, when he retired. Prior to becoming principal, Ferguson served as a teacher in the former East Oreland School.  A memorial service will be held today at 10 a.m. at the Craft Funeral Home, 814 Bethlehem Pike, Erdenheim. Groen: Wendell Young III Was 'Truly a Giant'

Montgomery County Democratic Committee Chairman Marcel L. Groen remembers president emeritus of Local 1776 and longtime Pennsylvania labor leader Wendell W. Young III, who passed away on Jan. 1.

In a world where we too often use the word "giant" or "great" to describe someone, I can honestly say that for me Wendell Young III was truly a giant as a labor leader and someone who spent his life fighting for people. I first heard of Mr. Young when I worked in the Bill Green for Mayor campaign in the spring of 1971. People would tell me how close he was to Bill Green and how influential a labor leader he was.  That was 42 years ago.  It never occurred to me that he was only 32 years old. Even then he had already achieved heights in the labor movement that few reach. Over the years I watched how innovative and caring he was for his members; how he recognized the importance of child care, before it was popular to do so, so single moms …

Marcia Sze Chou, 68, of Blue Bell

Mrs. Chou was a librarian for over 20 years at the Upper Dublin Public Library.

Marcia Sze Chou, 68, of Blue Bell, PA, died Friday, December 28, 2012 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Liaoning, China, she was the daughter of the late Wen Chuen and Yuk Tze (nee Wong) Sze.  Mrs. Chou was a librarian for over 20 years at the Upper Dublin Public Library. She was a member of the American Library Association, Public Library Association and Pennsylvania Library Association. She is survived by her husband David, her son Matthew and his wife Jennifer, her son Marcus and his wife Candace, and two grandchildren. Patricia S. Saunders (nee Sutter), 84 of Ambler

She was a Teacher, employed by Wissahickon School District until her retirement in 1993.

Patricia S. Saunders (nee Sutter), 84 of Ambler, formally of Maple Glen, died Tuesday at the Keystone Hospice in Wyndmoor, PA. Born in Forty Fort, PA, she was the daughter of the late Morey and Harriet (nee Armbruster) Sutter. She was a Teacher, employed by Wissahickon School District until her retirement in 1993. Mrs. Saunders was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and an avid reader and gardener. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harold L. Saunders and daughter Jane Saunders of Ambler. Beloved mother of the late Scott and Corbett Saunders. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 Great Grand Son. Louis L. Kriebel, 65, of Ambler

Louis was an avid fisherman. He belonged to the Gwynedd Valley Sportsman Club where he loved to spend many hours fishing at St. Mary's Lake. He also loved fishing at Loch Alsh Reservoir.

Louis L. Kriebel, 65, of Ambler, died suddenly Thursday, October 18, 2012 in Abington Memorial Hospital Abington. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Earl and the Mary (nee Vera) Kriebel and was preceded in death by his brother Earl R. Kriebel, Jr. in 1996.  Louis was a graduate of the Upper Dublin High School Class of 1966. He was a Laborer, employed by Nicolet Industries for 22 years and then for, Temple University Ambler Campus in the food services division for 6 years prior to retirement in 2010.  Louis was an avid fisherman. Louis F. Reimers, Jr., 60, of Ambler

Louis played minor league Baseball with the Reading Phillies and later coached in the Adult Softball Leagues in the Ambler and Lower Gwynedd area.

Louis F. Reimers, Jr., 60 of Ambler PA, died unexpectedly Monday at his sister's home in Quakertown, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Louis F. Sr. and Theresa (nee Trovato) Reimers, Sr. Louis was a graduate of Wissahickon High School class of 1971 and Mansfield University Class of 1975 with a BS in Criminal Justice. He worked as a Social Worker with mentally challenged children. Geraldine R. Vyvyan, 86 of Dresher, PA, died Wednesday October 17, 2012 in the Abington Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Milwaukee, WI, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (nee Kroha) Schwinn. Mrs. Vyvyan was preceded in death by her husband Robert F.
