UD Sports: Boys Tennis Opens Season with 5-2 Victory over North Penn

The Cardinals had to rally in three matches to earn the victory.

The Upper Dublin boys tennis team served up a winner in its first match of the season, downing North Penn High School by a score of 5-2 at home on Monday. However, it wasn't easy, as members of the squad had to rally from behind in three of the five winning matches.

The Cardinals took three of four doubles matches, led by first doubles partners Matt Swiren and Adam Chernow. The duo fell in the first set 6-7, but battled to take the second, 6-2, and third, 6-4, to earn the victory. The second doubles team of Adam Spiker and Kevin Wu would sweep their opponents 6-0, 6-2, while fourth doubles partners Joe Kwon and Jason Britchkow won 6-0, 6-3.

The Cardinal and Gray would also take two of three singles matches, with Jason Chaveson winning his last two sets 6-2 and 6-3 after falling in the first, 5-7, in 2nd singles. Jerry Li would also come back from losing his first set, 4-6, to earn 6-2 and 6-4 sets en route to a victory in 3rd singles.

The Cardinals are right back in action Tuesday with a home match against Central Bucks West at 3:30 p.m.
