Upper Dublin High School and Eastern Center for Arts and Technology graduate Andrew Benischeck is currently stationed in Yokosuka, Japan with the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. George Washington, a nuclear aircraft carrier, where he maintains and fixes the electronics for airplanes such as range-finding systems.
Benischeck transferred to Upper Dublin High School as a junior and chose the half-day welding technology program at Eastern — where he graduated with the second highest grade ever. At Eastern, he served as a student ambassador and represented the program at career expo presentations for tenth-grade students.
After Benischeck completes his enlistment period in two years, he plans to pursue a career in welding and attend a post-secondary welding school.
Benischeck was home on leave for a few days last week. During that time, he visited Eastern to speak to the welding technology class about post-secondary options.
Benischeck’s grandfather and uncle were also in the U.S. Navy.
