UDSD Has Used All Built In Snow Days

All snow days built into the Upper Dublin school year have been used up by Hurricane Sandy.

Editor's Note: Information was provided from the Upper Dublin School District eNotice:

Dear Parents/Guardians,

With Hurricane Sandy behind us, life slowly returns to normal in the School District, with successful Halloween parades (dodging raindrops) in all of our elementary schools this afternoon.

We have 183 instructional days built into this year’s school calendar, so despite the fact that we were out of school for three days, there is no need to think about make-up days...yet. We will, however, be entering the start of winter (actually, the start of November) without a cushion. There is a possibility of special action from the state legislature forgiving at least this past Monday and Tuesday, but that remains to be seen.

With all that said, a few reminders and updates about some special events and opportunities over the next few weeks:

  • Trick or treating for Halloween has been postponed in the Township until tomorrow, Saturday, November 3.
  • Schools will be closed again this Tuesday, November 6 for Election Day (regardless of one’s politics the best civics lesson we as parents can teach is reinforcing to our children the importance of exercising our right to vote).
  • Beginning this Monday, November 5 through and including Friday, December 21, Upper Dublin High School will be partnering with the Upper Dublin Public Library as part of a pilot program to offer extended hours for student access to the high school library. The high school is in great need of parent volunteers to work alongside the Upper Dublin Library staff from 3:30-5:30pm Mondays through Thursdays and 3:30 -5:00pm on Fridays. If you can volunteer just one afternoon during these next few weeks it would help us greatly. To select a date, just e-mail Mrs. Helene Cape in the Principal’s Office at the high school at hcape@udsd.org.
  • This coming Wednesday, November 7 through and including Saturday, November 10, Upper Dublin High School Theatre will be presenting the musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The show will be held in the new Black Box Theatre and tickets are $10.00 and available at the door. For more information, please visitwww.udsd.org.

Enjoy a restful week-end, hopefully free from any phone calls from the Superintendent of Schools with a brief important announcement...
