Sandy Run Principal: Choose Your World Language

The middle school is asking parents, students to choose a world language 'much earlier' than in years' past; the district will hold a special 'Open House for World Language' on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Sandy Run Middle School Principal Denise Falconi sent a letter to parents today explaining what steps the school district will take to accelerate students’ choices for world languages for the next school year.

Falconi said the students’ and parents’ choices are needed earlier “due to the budget challenges the district is experiencing.”  The letter continues to say that the language choices will determine staffing needs for the future.

1.  All students in grade 6th will experience a mini-rotation of the languages they have not yet been exposed to in the next month.

2.  A special Open House for world language for parents will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Annex.  Further details to follow shortly.

3.  All sixth grade students will be treated to team assemblies on the various languages hosted by our world language teachers during the advisory period the last week of January.

Please be assured that we are doing everything possible to ensure that your child (and you) make the best possible choice for the language selection for the next school year.  Should you have additional questions, please contact me via email or at extension 7201.
