Save the Date: UD Free Heart Screening for Students (ages 10-19) September 23
Long QT syndrome is a very serious heart disorder that can cause sudden cardiac arrest in anyone, including kids. Simon’s Fund is a foundation that was set up in memory of a 4 month old child, Simon Sudman, who passed away suddenly, in his sleep, from sudden cardiac arrest. It was later determined to be from Long QT syndrome, which could have been treated if detected. Simon’s Fund sets up free heart screenings in schools for kids ages 10-19, a free heart screening is being set up in the Upper Dublin community on Sunday, September 23 for the youth ages 10-19, from 8AM to 4PM. This screening takes about 30 minutes and is done through CHOP physicians and involves a simple, non-invasive ECG test. Appointments and pre-registration are required, please pre-register at http://www.simonsfund.org/get-screened/register/. Although the screenings are free for the students, each school screening costs over $2500. Simon’s Fund counts on donations to be able to continue to screen as many kids as possible so that they can continue to save lives. If you are interested in donating to help with the cost for future screenings please visithttp://simonsfund.donorpages.com/give/PaigeFlorin. Volunteers, including nurses, are very much needed for this event. If you are interested in helping out, please email Jill Florin at jsffitness@comcast.net.
