Upper Dublin Building Dams to Alleviate Flooding

Resolutions to obtain properties by eminent domain was passed at Upper Dublin's Board of Commissioners meeting.

At Tuesday night's Upper Dublin Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board passed resolutions to construction two dams to help with the flooding in the Fort Washington Office Park.

According to a report in the Ambler Gazette, the township received a $11.6 million state grant to fund the $15.3 million project. The dams will be placed behind the Mercedes-Benz on Dreshertown Road and near the CHAC athletic fields on Highland Avenue.

"The resolutions grant the township the authority to obtain properties by eminent domain" and is the first step towards building the dams.

"The township has reached a settlement price of $300,000 for the Widman property at 1417 Dreshertown Road and for the property at 1401 Dreshertown Road, referred to as Condor Fort Washington, there is a tentative agreement for $545,000."

Wait so they are going to do what with the Mercedes lot? Let it crumble to pieces while they build behind it? That whole thing about blaming the post office for not wanting to pay higher rent/fixing the roof was just nonsense.

Or is that whole area going to be under water?

Eminent domain. All I can say is I have been thru that. This could take years. If the township is fair and those impacted know their rights it could go smoothly however.

Gosh are they "using" the 'flooding' as the rationale for the grant money, which is cover for turning more privately held land into gov owned land? You know government already owns too much land in this county and country. Parks are fine superb, but this makes me wonder.
