Dean Defeats Mattiacci

Special election to succeed Josh Shapiro in PA 153rd

Madeleine Dean has defeated Nick Mattiacci in the special election for the PA-153 House seat in the state legislature that was vacated by Josh Shapiro when he become a Montgomery County commissioner earlier this year.

With a preliminary count showing Dean as having collected about 57 percent of the votes,  Tuesday.

Mattiacci will not have to wait long for a rematch. Though tonight's election settled who will serve the remainder of Shapiro's erstwhile term, the seat is up for re-election this November, when Dean will again face Mattiacci. This time, though, she will be doing so as the incumbent.

Shapiro issued congratulations to Dean via his Twitter account late Tuesday night.

More on Dean's victory later this evening.

Will Ms. Dean now resign as Commisioner in Abington Township or hold on to see if she wins in November? Can she do both jobs well at the same time??

Of course, BoA could also promote better money habits if it stopped gouging people on hidden fees.
