UD Police Reports 5/31: Break-In at the Pool, Shots Fired in Dresher

All information according to official police reports filed at the Upper Dublin Police Department.

Criminal Mischief- On the morning of May 22, Upper Dublin Police were called to the Sunny Willow Swim Club, in Willow Grove, for the report of a break-in. Responding officers found that a chain-link fence had been cut in order to gain access to the grounds, and that three sheds had been broken into. Items from the shed, such as two small student chairs from Thomas Fitzwater Elementary, had been thrown into the pool. However, Police determined that entry had not been made into the main swim club building, nor the elementary school despite an unlocked door, and that the chairs had originally been located outside the building.

Shots fired- At 12:13 pm on May 24, Upper Dublin Police were called to Sport Supply, Inc., of the 700 block of Twining Road in Dresher, for a report of shots fired. Responding officers found that it appeared a bullet had penetrated the screen and first glass pane of a second floor rear window, but did not penetrate the second pane. A silver “mushroomed” bullet jacket was resting on the bottom portion of the window screen, but a round could not be found.

Theft- At approximately 1:29 pm on May 24, a woman from the 600 block of Dreshertown Road reported to police that $3,5000 worth of jewelry had been stolen from her house sometime between February 14 and May 8, 2011. The resident also stated that numerous contractors had access to her house during that time period. Case closed due to lack of leads.

DUI- At 2:18 am on May 22, an Upper Dublin Police Officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light, and then proceed to turn right through the intersection, despite a “No Turn on Red” sign. Upon pulling the vehicle over, the officer found the driver, Robert Lyons, 47, of Woodside Circle in Dresher, to be visibly intoxicated with slurred speech. Lyons was then placed under arrest, and was confirmed to have a .188% BAC.

DUI- At approximately 12:21 am on April 28, an Upper Dublin Police Officer patrolling in an unmarked vehicle observed a white Mitsubishi Galant drive straight through a right turn only lane.

The officer initiated a traffic stop, and found the driver, Donald Dante Morris, 31, of the 7600 block of Rugby Street in Philadelphia, was slow to respond, with slurred speech and the odor of alcohol on his breath. Morris was placed under arrest, and found to have a .182% BAC.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle- At 1:25 am on May 27, Upper Dublin Police pulled over a vehicle that was reported stolen, at the intersection of Twining and Welsh Roads. The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest, and a passenger was also placed under arrest for a separate, county-issued warrant. The names of the suspects were not included in the police report.

 Burglary- At 12:21 am on May 22, Upper Dublin police were summoned to the first block of Lindenwold Terrace in Ambler for the report of a burglary. The victim stated that an engagement ring worth $800, a gold bracelet worth $250, and an I-pad worth $500, had been stolen from the residence. The victim also stated that she may have left the front door unlocked, and responding officers found no signs of forced entry.
