Pedestrian Stop in Ambler Turns into Foot Chase

Upper Dublin Police initiated a pedestrian stop at Bethlehem and Butler Pikes on Saturday.

According to Upper Dublin Police reports, on Saturday, August 11, a police officer in the area of Bethlehem Pike and Butler Pike in the Amble section of Upper Dublin Township around 11:05 a.m., observed a male walking towards Ambler Borough.

According to the report, the male was walking across Bethlehem Pike and the officer observed a sedan driving south on Bethlehem Pike, and allegedly had to take evasive action to avoid striking the male.

The vehicle locked up its brakes and swerved into the oncoming traffic, and according to the police report, nearly striking another vehicle that was heading north.

Upper Dublin Police reports state that due to the male almost causing a head-on collision, the officer initiated a pedestrian stop. The male, identified as Briyon Edmond Turner, of the 900 block of E Butler Pike, Ambler, began to run from the officer during the pedestrian stop.

Turner was taken into custody for multiple charges and transported to Upper DUblin Police Department for processing.

"The vehicle locked up its brakes and swerved into the oncoming traffic, and according to the police report, nearly striking another vehicle that was heading north." This would not have happened if the guy was on the sidewalk and not the road!
