Minor Taken In on Simple Assault Warrant, Police Say

A 17-year-old Norristown girl was wanted on a simple assault warrant in Montgomery County, police said.

A 17-year-old Norristown girl was just another passenger in a vehicle in Whitpain Township July 23, but police said she was wanted on a warrant.

The girl, who resides on Kohn Street, had an active warrant for Failure to Appear in court to be tried on simple assault charges, police said. She was taken into custody and released by Whitpain Township Police to Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, police said.

The girl was a passenger in the car driven by Dominique Brown-Dawkins, police said. Brown-Dawkins' vehicle was stopped by Whitpain Police at 8:42 p.m. at Chestnut Street for traveling the wrong way (south) down the one-way Oak Street, police said. Brown-Dawkins was cited, police said.
