Hit-and-Run Leads to DUI Arrest, Police Say

Dresher man struck an SUV at Cumberland Farms on Tuesday night with his Chrysler 300, according to police.

Robert James Girvin, 54, of Dresher Woods Drive, Dresher, was arrested late Tuesday night after he struck an Oreland resident’s Ford Explorer in the parking lot of Cumberland Farms and fled, police said.

According to police, the complainant followed Girvin, who was driving a black Chrysler 300, to the 300 block of Dresher Woods Drive. Police made contact with Girvin at 10:42 p.m.

There was a strong smell of alcohol emanating from the vehicle and Girvin seemed confused and could not understand what was going on, police said. The stereo in the car was playing loudly and when police asked Girvin to turn the volume down, it took him five tries to do so. According to police, Girvin actually kept turning the vehicle on and off instead of turning the vehicle’s stereo down.
