DUI Driver Causes Accident, Transported for Overdose, Police Say

Driver with a blood alcohol content of .322 percent causes accident in Upper Dublin Township.

Upper Dublin Police officers responded to an accident at the intersection of Tennis Avenue and Stout Road on July 9 at 6:11 p.m. according to police reports.

A silver Jeep Wrangler crashed into a blue Mercedes ML350 while turning right off Norristown Road onto Tennis Avenue.

Lower Gwynedd Township police officers were already on scene and reported that the driver of the Jeep, Dale Kowalek, of Chalfont, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. According to the report, when Kowalek removed his sunglasses, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He was also unable to complete interactive field tests due to impairment according to police.

A PBT indicated Kowalek his blood alcohol content was .322 percent. He was transported to a local hospital for a possible alcohol overdose, according to the report.
