A Flourtown man, police said, attempted to leave the scene of an accident in Whitpain Township, and was prevented from doing so by getting his keys taken away by the alleged victim.

John Ferraro, 55, of the unit block of Haws Avenue, has charges of DUI and other traffic offenses pending blood test results, Whitpain Township Police said.

Police said that on Aug. 16 at 10:21 p.m., officers were called to DeKalb Pike and Tournament Drive for a car crash. One of the drivers, identified as Ferraro, police said, was allegedly trying to leave the scene in a silver Cadillac.

Ferraro attempted to pass vehicles on DeKalb Pike on the left side of the roadway, and allegedly struck a car as he tried to get back into the southbound lane, police said.

The alleged victim took the keys from Ferraro when he allegedly tried to drive away, police said.

Ferraro was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital for testing for BAC level, police said.
