On September 30th, Or Hadash and the Jewish community begin to celebrate Sukkot, a harvest festival. At this time of year, we celebrate the fruits of the trees and vines. A trip to the apple orchard or pumpkin patch is in order. I love this time of year. I love to pick apples straight from the trees. They taste different in the fields than they do in the market. Try a taste test with different varieties.
One way, we celebrate this holiday at Or Hadash is with “Saturday Night in the Sukkah.” on Saturday October 6th beginning at 7pm. This is an informal way to celebrate the harvest festival with friends and neighbors at Or Hadash. We will hold a short Havdalah service to mark the end of Shabbat and the beginning of a new week outside in our sukkah. We will also have a taste test for adults—hard apple cider or pumpkin martinis anyone? It wouldn't be a party without desserts too!
Babysitting will be provided with advance reservations. Come meet our Or Hadash family and inhale the scents of the harvest with us. For more information, please contact Lori Rubin at program@orhadash.com.
