Love all things food? Then you'll love our yummy list of day trips to foodie havens in the Philadelphia area.

Written by Sarah Cocchimiglio

The Philadelphia area is home to some great food, so we've compiled a list of the most awesome culinary adventures that everyone should enjoy. The best part? You only need a tank of gas (or less) to get there.

Olive Oil Etc.

Why Go: Doylestown’s little olive oil shop offers 26 olive oils and balsamic vinegars you can sample. Taste them all, find something you love, and take home a bottle.

Must Do: Chat with the owners. They have a direct line to their olive growers, have visited the olive groves and pressing mills, and have a passion for everything olive.

Why Go: Every Saturday and Sunday at 2 and 4 p.m., the Pottstown location invites you to tour the brewing facility, witness the process in action and visit the "Tastin’ Room."

Must Do: After the tour, stop by the bar to enjoy some of Sly Fox’s medal-winning microbrews.

Insider Tip: Try a beer sampler of six 5-ounce glasses of the 20+ Sly Fox beers on tap.

Wonderful Good Market

Why Go: Located at Stoudt's Brewery in Adamstown, this place is a haven for bread and cheese lovers. Breads are made from all vegan ingredients, often including Stoudt's beer.

Must Do: Enjoy a sampling of bread and order a flight of Wonderful Good’s artisanal cheeses made on site at the neighboring Black Angus restaurant, then go back to the market and pick up some bread and cheese to take home.

Insider Tip: Go early. A limited number of loaves are baked each day, and the popular breads often sell out fast.

Fine Print: The market is only open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Click here for hours and more info.

Russo Gourmet Market

Why Go: Russo’s, in Wyomissing, boasts a huge selection of fresh produce, imported goodies, fresh deli meats, hard-to-find gourmet foods and ingredients, and plenty of pasta, all in one place.

Must Do: Stay for lunch. There are lots of delicious ready-made offerings to order and enjoy in Russo’s relaxing little sit-down area.

Insider Tip: Don’t rush. You could walk each aisle two or three times and still see things you missed on previous passes. Don't forget to take a cart. You may think you need three things and that a basket will do, but it won’t.

Fine Print: Open seven days a week.
