William P Phipps, Jr, 80, of Ambler

William P Phipps, Jr of Ambler PA passed away on September 4, 2012 at his home at the age of 80. He was born in Philadelphia on July 17, 1932 the son of William and Vera Phipps. He was husband of Mary T (nee Cavanagh) Phipps for 51 years. 

He graduated from St Leonard Academy in 1946, St Joseph’s Prep in 1950 and Villanova University in 1954. After Villanova, William went on to be an Assistant Prosecutor for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office. He retired in 1996 after 22 years of service. 

William served in the US Navy and was a member of St Anthony of Padua Church in Ambler PA. 

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by children Evelyn Phipps of Falls Church, VA, Mary Beth Mayhew of West Hills, CA and William Phipps III of Philadelphia, PA. Also surviving are his grand children James and Caroline Mayhew. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 8, 2012 at St Anthony of Padua Church 259 Forest Ave, Ambler PA, 19002. The service, officiated by Fr. Lyons will begin at 11am. Internment will be private.
