William J. Smith, 'Smitty,' 78 of Willow Grove

He was a Cook, employed by Broad Axe Deli and Roes's Place in Ambler.

William J. Smith, "Smitty," of Willow Grove PA, died unexpectedly Saturday at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 78.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William J. Smith and Helen (nee Lynch) May.

He was a Cook, employed by Broad Axe Deli and Roes's Place in Ambler. He was a fan of all sports, but most of all he loved the Phillies. His love for animals shined through as he cared for his daughter Bunny's dogs especially "Toto" who will miss his love and attention tremendously. 

He is survived by his wife Anna Marie (nee Del Conte)Smith of Dresher, and his daughters Bunny DeSimone and her husband Grant of Dresher, Renee S. Rodgers of Chesapeake, Va., and Denise M. Bivens of Ambler; he is the brother of Patricia May of Atlanta and Jimmy and Johnny Smith of Santa Barbara, Calif. and is also survived by his eight grandchildren and five Great Grand Children. 

Relatives and Friends may call Thursday Nov. 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home,1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
