Benjamin F. Cake of Blue Bell, U.S. Navy Lieutenant

Benjamin F. Cake was an alumnus of Cheltenham High School and Franklin and Marshall College.

Benjamin F. Cake, of Blue Bell, formerly of Rydal, died March 24 at Normandy Farms Estates. He was 97. 

Born in Glenside, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Julia (Burns) Cake. 

Cake was a graduate of Cheltenham High School and attended Franklin and Marshall College. A lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, he earned his wings at Pensacola, Fla. and was a pilot during World War II.

Cake served as vice president of the printing and lithograph division at Diamond International Corporation for over 30 years.

During the years of raising his family, he was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Later, he was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.

Cake is survived by his children Jim Cake (Susan), Lynn Cake Dahl (Douglas), Richard Cake (Barbara), Mark Cake (Lonnie); his five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren as well as a niece Rosemary (Alan). He was preceded in death by all of his siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass on Wednesday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Antony of Padua Church, 259 Forest Ave., Ambler. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Cake’s name to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 259 Forest Ave., Ambler.
