20 Trees to be Removed After Weekend Storms

20 trees, 19 from Mondauk Common and one from Meetinghouse Park, will be removed after being knocked over during the weekend's severe storms.

Severe winds from Saturday’s storm made contact with Mondauk Common and knocked over a number of trees and damaged fencing and bleachers.

Derek Dureka, Director of Upper Dublin Township’s Parks and Recreation, said township crews got to the site around 10 p.m. on Saturday to assess the damage and on Sunday, basic clean up began.

Township crews cleared hanging limbs and debris. Dureka said a contractor is scheduled to come to the park the middle to the end of this week to clear the large trees that were knocked over during the storm.

Approximately 20 trees will be cleared, 19 at Mondauk and one at Meetinghouse Park. Dureka said the trees were pushed entirely over by the strong winds, not uprooted.

Dureka said there are already plans to replace the trees that were damaged. Trees that are native to the area and that will thrive at the parks.

Besides the trees, baseball fencing and a few bleachers were damaged in the storm.

Editor's Note: Trees were downed and damaged at Monduak Common on Susquehanna Road, not MonDaug Park as originally stated in this article.
