WVWA EVANS-MUMBOWER MILL OPEN HOUSE & WALK

This is the last scheduled open house of
the 2013 season and it features a walk along the former race that fed the mill,
to locate the remnants of the dam in the Upper Wissahickon. The
walk will begin at 2:00 pm and last approximately an hour. Please wear sturdy
shoes or boots!

Stepping into this 19th century
gristmill you immediately hear the grinding on the stone, and feel the rumbling
of the waterwheel. Costumed guides demonstrate their skills and bring to life
the vibrancy of milling along the Wissahickon Creek. Visitors of all ages are
fascinated by the simple machines that changed America’s history; these
machines are a welcome break from today’s fast-paced computers!

The Evans-Mumbower is
the only remaining mill in Montgomery County that is operational and open to
the public. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
