Upper Dublin 41st Spectacle In Sound

Please join us in Cardinal Stadium on Saturday evening, September 21st for the 41st Spectacle in Sound Marching Band Competition hosted by Upper Dublin High School! This annual musical event has had audiences coming back for more for four decades and has become a major local competition in recent years. This year The Marching Cardinals welcome seventeen high school marching bands for a total of more the 1,000 marchers, making this the largest Spectacle In Sound ever. Among the local high school bands performing this year are: Hatboro Horsham HS, Plymouth-Whitemarsh HS, Wissahickon HS, Upper Moreland HS, Abington HS, Cheltenham HS, as well as Central Bucks West and East. Bands are also coming from as far away as Mays Landing, NJ, and Boyertown, PA, (a radius of more than 100 miles). At the conclusion of the evening the Marching Cardinals of Upper Dublin High School will perform their 2013 field show "Heartbeat" in exhibition. A field show is a unique artistic combination of a musical performance, colorful dramatic elements and marching athleticism, all combining to create a thrilling visual effect on a football field. The first high school band steps onto the field shortly after the Star Spangled Banner is played at 5:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the gate and are $12 for adults and $7 for school aged children and seniors. Younger children are free. Plenty of parking is available on and around the Upper Dublin High School campus. Handicapped parking is available close to the stadium. Program guides are available for sale, as well as various concession foods and baked goods. The event poster for Spectacle In Sound can be found on the district calendar at the Upper Dublin School District website, www.udsd.org. In addition, the bands will be performing at our new facility at Upper Dublin High School, which is the only school recently voted Post Act 1 in approval by local citizens. Upper Dublin High School Marching Band has also performed for our First Lady Michelle Obama and with the renowned pop-rock band, 'Foster The People'. We are proud and excited to host the upcoming event and look forward to to creating awareness of our musically talented youth's accomplishments in the performing arts.
