THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (OBAMACARE) TRAINING SESSION

The Affordable Care Act has already changed many aspects of health care insurance and delivery, including the coverage of dependent children through age 26, capping insurers’ non-medical costs, and shrinking the Medicare drug “doughnut hole.”

In October a major change will be the availability of Health Care Exchanges (HCE) for individuals and small businesses to obtain health insurance, effective January 1, 2014.  This is the most complicated aspect of the ACA and has generated many questions, and much misinformation.

This training session, on the eve of the opening of Pennsylvania’s HCE,  will explain what is in the ACA, and specifically address the concerns of individuals and small businesses (both for profit and not for profit) seeking coverage, as well as changes in Medicare.   After a basic presentation, audience questions will be addressed.

This training will be provided by PHAN, a non-profit coalition of Pennsylvania consumers, medical providers and community organizations, part of a nation-wide project of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  PHAN is the definitive source of information on the implementation of the ACA in Pennsylvania.
