Upper Dublin Assesses Hurricane Damage

Upper Dublin Township Manager assesses damage to the township from Hurricane Sandy.

According to Upper Dublin Township Manager, Paul Leonard, the entire township is without power tonight. PECO is reporting that approximately 8,300 homes in the township are without power.

The Upper Dublin Police and Fort Washignton Fire Department have logged over 100 calls since the high winds began, at approximately 2:30 p.m.

There are multiple trees and wires down throughout the township from the high winds and, even though the high winds are to subside as the night progresses, Leonard told Patch that they can still cause damage.

He said the township is continuing service to remove downed trees and clean up downed wires, however there are a few situations where the township must wait until PECO comes out to asses the situation.

Leonard told Patch that there have been three to four situations in Upper Dublin with trees into homes that emergency responders will not be able to assess unit morning. He also stated there is at least one property that lost their entire roof and multiple reports of chimneys collapsing.

The Township is asking that the major employers in the township not open for business on Tuesday, or to delay opening to at least noon.

Leonard added that there has been very minimal flooding in the area and no injuries have been reported.
