Where/When:
Upper Dublin High School, 800 Loch Alsh Ave., Fort Washington; Sept. 17, 6 to 10 p.m.
Why Go:
In addition to the 11 local high school marching bands performing, including Upper Dublin and Wissahickon high schools, the Penn State Blue Band will delight the audience with its 310-member marching band.
Pricing:
$5 in advance, $10 at the door

2.
Where/When:
Jarrettown United Methodist Church, 1460 Limekiln Pike, Dresher; Sept. 16, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Why Go:
Friendly, low-key atmosphere, open mic featuring a variety of local musicians offering acoustic performances.
Pricing:
Free admission, coffee, non-alcoholic beverages and light refreshments available for a small fee

Where/When:
Act II Playhouse, 56 E. Butler Ave., Ambler; Sept. 17, 3 p.m.
Why Go:
“Ruff Draft: Inside the Mind of Fido, Whiskers, Snowball and Other Family Pets,” is a series of short monologues, written by students and read by professional actors. Act II organized a contest, challenging students to write a few paragraphs about what their pets are really thinking. “Ruff Draft” showcases the winning monologues.

$5 at the door

Ambler Area YMCA, 1325 McKean Road, Ambler; Sept. 17, 6 to 9 p.m.
Why Go:
Because kids need a night out, too! Children will be entertained at the Y with crafts, activities, games and pizza, and parents get a well-deserved night off.
Pricing:
$10 full members, $15 program members, $20 non-members

Temple University, Ambler, East Meetinghouse Road, Ambler; Sept. 18, 2 to 5 p.m.
Why Go:
Inter-Faith Housing Alliance holds its biannual fundraiser, with the best local jazz talent, and an array of free menu samplings from local restaurants. Proceeds benefit I-FHA, a leading provider of support to local homeless families.
